G4S launches new courier route to Uganda Add this

24 July 2010

G4S Courier has launched the new route to Uganda in a ceremony that was presided over by Mr Andrew Kalyango, Uganda’s First Secretary in charge of East African Integration, and the G4S Deputy Managing Director, Eng Jack Muchira. Also present were G4S Customers, the Nairobi Area District Traffic Officer, Mr Cheronyei Chirchir, and G4S staff.

In his brief remarks before flagging off the new branded fleet for the Uganda route, the Deputy MD said he had received with sadness the news of blasts in Kampala, Uganda, in which more than 60 World Cup soccer fans were killed.

“We would like to register our condolences and solidarity with the Ugandan people at this moment and pray that such an incident does not happen again,” he said and led the gathering in observing a minute’s silence in remembrance of the victims.

On his part, Mr Kalyango commended G4S for launching the Uganda route and noted that it came just days after President Mwai Kibaki launched the East African Common Market Protocol. “We’re very optimistic about the common market protocol and the opportunities for the region. The new (courier) route is welcome, since Kenya generates close to 75% of all trade volumes into uganda,” he said, noting that Uganda was one of Kenya’s main trading partners.

Eng Muchira also thanked G4S customers for their continued support even in difficult times. He commended the G4S team and urged them to continue holding the G4S flag high in meeting customer expectations.
