G4S deploys security team of 1600 personnel for Safaricom Sevens
10 November 2011Leaders in provision of Security Services G4S Kenya provided security for this year’s Safaricom Sevens rugby tournament.
The event came at the wake of looming Al Shabaab threats and fears of attacks in the country.
G4S carried out risk assessments and assured the fans and organizers of a seamless event and this was achieved.
According to Mark Lipton, the Security and Risk Director, “as industry experts in event security, G4S left nothing to chance by putting up the tightest security set up in the country’s sport history”.
The massive international rugby tournament held between 4th- 6th November has grown over the years to become Africa’s premiere rugby tournament. The event was attended by 14 international teams and attracted more than 15,000 local and overseas fans.
To ensure maximum security, G4S deployed 1619 officers to organize security for the three-day event. This included 22 supervisors, 57 sniffer and protection dog handlers, 772 security officers and 768 event trained security officers.
This event further positioned G4S Kenya as leaders in event security solutions and event management. This year, G4S Kenya has secured all the major events in the country including Tusker All Stars, Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon, Lewa marathon and other community events.
