G4S launches Fire and Rescue Services in Mombasa

On June 18, 2010, the G4S Kenya Managing Director, Mr John Wheater, and the Deputy managing Director, Eng Jack Muchira, presided over the launch of G4S Fire and Rescue Services in the coastal town Mombasa. The event at the Whitesands Hotel included media and a fire drill in the morning followed by a cocktail in the evening. G4S Fire and Rescue Services hit the Coast in a big way.

Mombasa, the second largest city in Kenya, is an island in the country’s coastal area. Located on the Indian Ocean shores, the town has seen numerous fire disasters mainly affecting its thatched roof tourist hotels. It is the provincial headquarters of Coast Province, with a population of 1.8 million in Kilifi, Kwale, Lamu, Mobasa, Taita/Taveta, and Tana River districts.

G4S Fire and Rescue Services crew boasts some of the country’s best trained, best equipped, and most experienced firefighters under the leadership of Lt Col (rtd) Clive Lee.

Thanks to G4S Fire and Rescue Services, Mombasa residents will now have:

  • 24-hour Ambulance Service
  • Crisis Response and Rescue Service
  • Events and Functions – Fire Protection/Ambulance.
  • Fire Protection Service – Installation maintenance including warden system
  • Emergency Evacuation Drills
